Theme: Richard Maxfield + Terry Jennings

The circle of friends of the American minimalist La Monte Young has many branches. From hippie Angus Maclise and pop god John Cale to minimalist crony Terry Riley. Two of the most undervalued composers from the circles of La Monte Young are Richard Maxfield (1927-1969) and Terry Jennings (1940-1981). Two untimely deceased American sound pioneers whose work only sparsely has been released. Composers that were of great influence to the early avant-garde idiom of La Monte Young. In this Theme many classic tape works and compositions from the oeuvre of Richard Maxfield, combined with recently recorded work of Terry Jennings by, among others pianist John Tilbury.
