Himnopsis Colectiva is the name of the new CD of Amparanoia, Since 2007, Amparanoia has been presenting an authentic mestizo sound with the exceptional singer Amparo Sánchez as its frontwoman.
Angelique Kidjo is a formidable world star. She shows her qualitative prowess once again with her newest, and thirteenth, CD called Mother Nature, on which many guests artists from all over the world are featured.
The group Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, is one of the oldest and leading traditional music groups in the country. Most of the band’s music is for dancing – the traditional Salentine dance, the pizzica, or the taranta. Meridiana is the title of their new album. Guitarist Justin Adams produced the album, on which synthesizers, electric bass and loops, together with traditional folk instruments, give a powerful new impulse to age-old music.
Singer Christine Salem gives the rhythmic, hypnotic maloya music from Réunion a modern sound by adding blues and rock elements. On her seventh album, Mersi, the electric guitar and violin play a more prominent role.
Transglobal Underground and our European Friends have released the CD A Gathering of Strangers 2021. It is a collection of 10 songs they made during their journey through Europe, looking for migration songs. The result is a collection of traditional folk songs, played on hurdy gurdy, violins bagpipes, percussion, guitars, bouzouki, bodran etc.
We conclude the programme with Pizzica Bhangra from Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino.
