World Music NL! Episode 22: Mixed and Beyond part 1 (2007).
CD cover Mixed Magazine
World Music NL! is a series of broadcasts about a whole range of Dutch music genres which are counted among the vast area of world music.
In the Netherlands there are compiled some unique collections with recordings of non-Western and multicultural music originating in the Netherlands. These are part of the collections of various semi-public institutions and the collections of associations and private individuals. Over the years, music organisations made a few compilation CDs for the promotion of the music sector.
In this episode, a compilation CD with world music from the Netherlands, released by Mixed Magazine from 2007.
While it has been quiet for years round the world-music media, two magazines were published in the Netherlands in the summer of 2007 which concentrated on world music.
Both Beyond and Mixed supplied the magazines with a free CD with world music originating mostly from the Netherlands.
World music in all its aspects was brought to the attention of the readers with a modern media approach in which magazines, CDs, websites and web radio were combined.
Both Mixed and Beyond published in 2007 the first three editions from their magazines. In 2008 they decided to work together. After some years, this initiative ended also and now there is just the website MixedWorldMusic left.
