In this episode recently released world music from all corners of the world. Like the American singer/songwriter Somi, the popular reggae singer Tiken Jah Fakoly from Ivory Coast, a project of Ensemble Multifoon led by composer Sinta Wullur, the album ‘Mounqaliba’ by Natacha Atlas, Senegalese world music by singer Cheikh Lo and some catchy songs by the Algerian singer Souad Massi.
First the album ‘If the rains come first’ of the American singer/songwriter Somi. Her music is classified as both jazz and world music. After this the popular reggae singer Tiken Jah Fakoly from Ivory Coast with some songs from his album ‘African Revolution’. The first half hour concludes with ‘Indi Go’, a Dutch album with a combination of Indonesian gamelan music and Indian raga music, in a project of Ensemble Multifoon led by composer Sinta Wullur. In the second half hour we will play songs from the album ‘Mounqaliba’ by Natacha Atlas, a Belgian-British singer with roots in North Africa and the Middle East. You can hear a mix of Arabic and western styles in her music. Then Senegalese world music by singer Cheikh Lo, from his fourth album ‘Jamm’.In conclusion some catchy song by Algerian singer Souad Massi, from her album ‘O Houria’.
