Eiland Musici.
Calypso Rose (McArtha Lewis 1940 Tobago) is al jaren een doorgewinterd musicus. Tegenwoordig woont ze in New York. In 1978 krijgt ze de titel Calypso King. Naast calypso maakt ze zich ook schuldig aan gospel, reggae en soul.
De jonge Cesaria Evora. In de zestiger jaren maakte zij als 20 jarig meisje opnamen voor radio Barlavento in Mindelo van het eiland Sao Vincento. Met één microfoon werden de opnamen gemaakt. Mixen was er niet bij: dichtbij de microfoon was hard en verderaf zacht. Stoffig opgenomen, dat wel: maar heerlijk om naar te luisteren.
Kilema, zanger uit het zuidoosten van Madagascar. Speelt virtuoos de kabosy en de marovany; een citer uit Madagascar en is een voortreffelijk componist!
