The guitar in the last century IX: Carlo Domeniconi.
A monthly series featuring guitar music from the last century, each episode including a guitar concert.
Today’s focus is on Italian composer Carlo Domeniconi (born 1947).
As a composer, Domeniconi was influenced by music from all over the world, especially the music of the Middle East. This can be heard in the Variations on an Anatolian Folk Song, which he based on a song from Turkey. But Eastern influences can also be heard in the Concerto Mediterraneo for two guitars and an orchestra.
Also in this episode is a tribute that Domeniconi wrote for guitarist Jimi Hendrix.
