Music by 20th-century composers.
Michael Colgrass.
Today in The Last Century we give attention to the Canadian composer Michael Colgrass, who is relatively unknown in the Netherlands and died in 2019. We hear four of his works. The first piece is Light Spirit from the 1960s when Colgrass wrote his first compositions. Besides, we hear the exquisite As Quiet as, a musical collage based on children’s drawings. Furthermore, Déjà Vu, the composition which won Colgrass the Pulitzer Prize in 1978. We conclude with four parts from Winds of Nagual, a musical fable for wind ensemble.
