The Source of Sound is about material, movement and the vibrations from which music is created. Today episode 7, the final part of a diptych about string instruments.
Kora
After the previous episode with Asian music we will now focus on music from the rest of the world, from fado and flamenco to high life, maqam and baroque music played on the harp, kora, geedal, guitar, violin, kemanche, nanga, zither, dulcimer and finally the winch. An instrument that since ancient times has been the symbol of the music and an icon which adorns many concert halls and opera houses without it ever being heard inside those buildings. But of course we do hear it in the Source of Sound with its quirky and certainly not representative selection of music from all over the world.
