The Sound Cafe on tour, onto Gstaad!
Why do people travel all the way to the mountain village of Gstaad? Festival director Christoph Müller: "It’s a combination of beautiful nature and music of high standards. The Gstaad Menuhin Festival has a varied programme: from baroque to classical music inspired by folk and jazz." The authentic concert locations contribute to the atmosphere as well. No wonder classical musicians are willing to make time to visit Gstaad. This edition featured opera stars Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Daniil Trifonov. The Sound Cafe traveled to Switzerland in order to create unique radio. This resulted in an hour-long special.Louis Gauthier and Christel Don were the only Dutch journalists that were able to speak with Jonas Kaufmann and Daniil Trofonov. Furthermore they covered violinist and Sound Cafe discovery Kilian van Rooij (23), who attended a violin Master Class at the Gstaad String Academy.
A nice hour of listening you don’t want to miss!
And: watch out for two brandnew tracks from the new release of Jonas Kaufman – The Puccini Album, which will not be released until October at Sony Classical.
