Jazz, blues and nostalgia. Theme: ‘Tempo Doeloe’.
Music from and about the Dutch East Indies. Nostalgia in due form by the Krontjong Band Indische Club Amsterdam, Koos Speenhoff about a ‘ayah you’ll never forget’, Ernst Jansz about the country of his father, steel guitar celebrities like George de Fretes, Coy Pereira and Rudi Wairata, Duo Hofmann with the cheerfully ‘Hallo Batavia’, Kees Pruis with his song ‘Leila’ about a wasted away colonial, compelling nostalgia in ‘Kota Ambon’ by Doea Melati, a story by Wal Neyndorf in the almost disappeared but beautiful language Indische Nederlands (Indo-Dutch), and further the Kilima Hawaiians, Frans van Schaik with ‘Jongen in Indië’ (boy in the Indies) and Ina Verwoerd in one of the loveliest love songs: ‘Je moet nog even aan me denken voor je slapen gaat’ (you have to think about me when you go to sleep). In short, one hour of nostalgia for the Dutch East Indies.
