Exchanges and fusion of tango with different music cultures by Joep à Campo.
Episode 2: the second CD by Warman & Bergamin titled TangoZZs&More.
The new programme series TANGO FUSIÓN is about exchanges and fusions of tango with other music cultures and performance practices. Tango Fusión, in short, is tango since 1950, mixed with other music styles; be it classic, jazz, rock, electro, ethno or other world music.
In this epsiode you will hear the second CD by Warman & Bergamin titled TangoZZs&More.
It’s the recording of a concert, made in the Toonzaal in Arnhem on 22 November 2014. The tango music is executed in an improvised approach, as is done in jazz music. On the CD TangoZZs & More the duo works together with two other tango musicians: the violinist Ruzana Tsymbalova
and bandoneonist Santiago Cimadevilla.
Of its twelve pieces, eight are new tango compositions. Four have been composed by Wim Warman and four by Ruud Bergamin. Bergamin’s composition “Horatio” was written in 2014 to commemorate the jazz composer Horace Silver who passed away that year. Four other tangos that belong to the classical tango composers J.C. Cobian and A. Troilo have been recorded.
