Fans of world music may know the double bass player (see highlighted image) from St. Petersburg where he played in the group Vershki da Koreshki (later VeDaKi), with other core members Alexei Levin, and Mola Sylla. In his own country, Volkov often works together with ethnojazz-pioneer Sergey Starostin (image below).
