Arthur Russell – between disco and avant-garde.
Cellist, singer and composer Arthur Russell was a real outsider. Before he died of AIDS in 1992, he was active in the alternative music scene of New York. One of his ambitions was to bring disco to the stage as an adult art form. During his live, hardly any recordings of his work appeared, but by now, large parts of his musical archive have been released. In this episode: music of the album Calling Out of Context.
