A musical serial episode 53: Ananas Symphonie: The early work of Kraftwerk.
Kraftwerk’s purely electronic rise to fame after the release of Autobahn came so quickly, that it’s easy to forget the quality of their earlier electro-acoustic work.
Organisation is a band that contained both Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, before they went on to form Kraftwerk. From Tone Float, the only Organisation album to see the light of day, we play the slowly evolving title track. From the album Kraftwerk 2 Klingklang, which flows along just as nicely. Atem and Megaherz fill the middle, and because of the nice weather here in Utrecht, we can’t leave out the Ananas Symphonie (Pineapple Symphony), which marks Kraftwerk first recorded use of the vocoder.
