Music from the 18th century.
Battuto en Pizzicato – a new series about the baroque guitar by Lex Eisenhardt. Episode 1: Spain and Italy.
Today we start with a new series about the baroque guitar at the Concertzender. Former baroque guitar teacher Lex Eisenhardt focuses on Spanish, Italian and French music for the baroque guitar in the show titled ‘Battuto en Pizzicato’.
This 5part series is broadcast every fourth Saturday of the month from 11 to 12 o’clock.
Several 17th century respectable composers, especially from Italy and France, wrote quite serious music for this guitar. Those songs will be the main focus of ‘Battuto en Pizzicato’. By placing their music to the background of works by more famous greats, their meaning in the musical history will, hopefully, become clearer.
Episode 1: Spain and Italy. We go back to Charles V’s and Philip II’s Spain. We will be listening to music by Luis de Narváez, Miguel de Fuenllana, Diego Ortiz and Estéban Daza a.o.. As well as music by Francesco Corbetta and Giovanni Paolo Foscarini.
