теплота
теплота is the London-based duo of Grundik Kasyansky & Tom Wheatley. Their work interrogates the haptic, social and liberating relationships with technologies old and new; using feedback synthesizer and computer-acoustic bass, they fuse a spontaneous interplay orthogonally over cyclical structures, with techno as perpetual fulcrum.

Valentina Magaletti & Laila Sakini.
A hypnotic demonstration of improvisation, and an ode to the free-jazz and DIY cultures the two artists rose from, Cupo ultimately becomes an object of intuition that marks both a turning point and coming together of two of London’s most imaginative figures.‘Cupo’ is the debut collaborative album by London based producer/percussionist Valentina Magaletti and enigmatic artist Laila Sakini, deploying an orchestra-sized ensemble of instruments thru dub, ambient, modern classical, and effortlessly experimental modes.

Coppice.
Composed by montaging audio quotations from Coppice’s first two studies, «Circumpass» representing Bellows & Electronics (2009-2014), and «Compass» representing Physical Modeling & Modular Syntheses (2014-2018). Representing Phonography & Fiction (2018-2022), «Hourglass» abridges Coppice’s overarching sonic palette across all three studies (2009-2022). «At the Poles» is a conjunction of two unaltered solo performances, one for an Estey pump organ (cir. 1935, prepared in 2013) by Noé Cuéllar (recorded in January 2014), and one for modular synthesis by Joseph Kramer (recorded in May 2016), each of which has been separated from «Soft Crown» from “Vantage/Cordoned” (caduc., CA, 2014), and «Here» from “Green Flame” (caduc., CA, 2018).

Duane Pitre.
Duane Pitre’s Varolii Patterns was made with an eight-voice synthesizer, tuned in Just Intonation. These six pieces explore shifting polyrhythms that slip in and out of rhythmic focus and utilize “Common Rhythmic Pulses” that carry over as the pattern evolves within a piece.

Langham Research Centre & John Butcher.
Langham Research Centre work as a quartet, a trio or as a duet to make experimental music using resources and ideas that, until recently, were considered obsolete, redundant and outdated. In this recording, Iain Chambers and Robert Worby use cassette machines, oscillators, shortwave radio and amplified small sounds to improvise with John Butcher.
John Butcher is well known as a saxophonist who attempts to engage with the uniqueness of time and place. His music ranges through improvisation, his own compositions, multitracked works and explorations with feedback and extreme acoustics.

Voice Actor.
“VOICE ACTOR’s music frequently does appear to get bogged down in an obsessive intellectualism and to have difficulty working human emotion into musical form. VOICE ACTOR’s unsuccessful setting of “Badman ona Tandem” shows this difficulty plainly. The subject calls for deep emotional expression, but the musical structures self- consciously direct attention to their formal sophistication, rather than hooking up with the ideas of grief and mourning suggested by the songs.

William Basinski.
‘The Clocktower at the Beach’ is a previously unreleased 42-minute archival work composed and recorded in 1979 during Basinski’s time living in San Francisco. At times faint, and other times roaring, this sprawling, foggy drone is a tumult of ebb and flow.

Wormhook.
‘Workaday Strangeness: Gyrating Death Throes From a Void Axiom’ is the new LP from Glasgow-based music originator Wormhook. The music therein, we understand, emerged for highly personal therapeutic reasons; nevertheless to describe it as ‘idiosyncratic’ would do a disservice both to Wormhook and to the concept of idiosyncrasy. While the record is certainly a profoundly unique, irreplicable creation, its music is nevertheless based on a visceral, breathing human rhythm which is common to all living bodies. It represents a celebration of the act of creation as a means of processing psychic and spiritual conflict, unconscious thought leading to spontaneous musical discovery.
