Captain Rip Hayman (b.1951, New Mexico) has come ashore again, bearing fresh cargo. A student of John Cage, Ravi Shankar, and Philip Corner, Rip was a founding editor of the revered Ear Magazine (1975-1991), and since 1977 he has run New York’s oldest bar, the Ear Inn. The focused minimalism of his new LP Waves: Real and Imagined varies from the collaged spectacle of his first Recital LP, Dreams of India & China (2019).

Matthew Sullivan.
Matthew Sullivan is a sound artist from Los Angeles currently based in London. He has recorded under the moniker Earn and is a frequent collaborator with fellow LA artist Sean McCann. His 2016 LP Skene (Recital) is a collage of obscured narratives implementing cassette manipulation and voice cut-ups within instrumental and percussive motifs. Sullivan curated the Ekhein imprint between 2007-2012. In recent years he has performed at The Hammer Museum and the MOCA Geffen Center as well as curating numerous public and private events in Los Angeles.

Beachers.
Beachers is the electronic music project of London based Daryl Worthington. He works in the crossovers between accidental and composed sounds, hi and lo-fi audio, with a particular interest in the beauty to be found in the mundane.

Leven Signs.
In 1985 a wondrous album titled Hemp Is Here was created by the obscure English duo Leven Signs, composed of Pete Karkut and Maggie Turner. Since then, Hemp Is Here has proven to be a visionary recording that holds a special place in the ongoing expansion of experimental music. Through the method of tape collage, an unclassifiable recording was created that consisted of post-punk and avant-pop sounds, tribal rhythms and dub and folklore elements.

Leipzig based TIBSLC (The International Billionaire’s Secret Love Child) sculpts hazily ambiguous but meticulously detailed sounds hypersensitive to nanoscopic movements and fleeting midnight feels. Blending subtle environmental recordings with processed digital noise and feedback, the eight parts of ‘Delusive Tongue Shifts – Situation Based Compositions’ find themselves in good company on sferic’s roster of intuitive ambient explorers, but TIBSLC’s work is distinguished by an arcing narrative quality that emerges across its yawning spaces, each viewed by perspectives ranging from lofty, birds-eye to more intimate and voyeuristic.
