Musical Romanticism, explored by Pieter de Oude.

Today, we have music with a Czech touch. First, we’ll listen to the relatively unknown Third Symphony by Zdenek Fibich. This contemporary of Dvořák composed a lot of music, but we won’t listen to it for some reason. Now, we’ll better our lives. His Third Symphony is seen as his best piece. The tone is dark and severe, but sometimes, a beam of sunlight shines through the Bohemian woods.

Besides that, I invite you to listen to the American Suite by Dvořák. He completed this piece during his stay in the United States, where he worked as the temporary director of the New York Conservatory. Dvořák wrote beautiful music on the other side of the ocean, yet he was keen to get home again. His American Suite hums with the Bohemian melodies and rhythms.
