Today, Radio Romantica is in a Spanish mood. You will hear a sunny and swinging recital by Maria Bayo. She is accompanied by one of the great specialists in song accompaniment: Malcolm Martineau. Together, they will produce a fascinating programme with Catalan songs of Eduardo Toldrá, who was born in 1895, and of Jesús Guridi, who died in 1961. In between, you will hear Granados’ Tonadillas and Ravel’s Mélodies Populaires Grecques. These two composers were from the generation before that. As an encore, you will hear the lovely Brazilian song Azulão, the blue bird.
