First part of Nate Wooley’s experimental sounds and improvised music.
He consciously replaced musical elements like melody, rhythm and harmony with density, frequency and silence in his music. Wooley constantly plays on and over the boundaries of his instrument and searches for new ways to make music.
This doesn’t mean he completely abandoned the jazz tradition as a trumpet player. Sometimes he lyrically improvises, on other moments he pushes the weirdest sounds out of his instrument.
Next to a number of impressive solo albums (for example Trumpet/Amplifier) he plays in different compositions. In this first Pakrammel about Nate Wooley a selection of his many collaborations. You’d like to hear more? On 26 December Pakrammel will be dedicated to this special trumpet player as well. For more information about Nate Wooley have a look at www.natewooley.com.
