Special on the CD: “Silver Minutes”.
Silver Minutes is a compilation CD with improvised music from Japan, published in 1997 by 360° Records. The improv artists on this CD are Taku Sugimoto, Danpei, Tamaru, Kan-nuki, Woodon, Tsuguto Tsunoda, Kazunao Nagata, Tomohide Midori and Raw-shit.
Taku Sugimoto (1965) is a guitar and cello player who only began to get interested in improvised music in the early 90s. He regularly plays with Akiyama, Toshimaru Nakamura (guitar, mixer), Yuta Kawasaki (analogous synthesizer), Otomo Yoshihide (turntables, guitar, electronics) and others. Since 1998 he has been organizing monthly concerts together with Akiyama and Nakamura "The Improvisation Meeting" and "The Experimental Meeting" at Bar Aoyama and "Meeting" at Off Site in 2000. These series ended in 2001.
Shuichi Tamaru (1963) also began with improvised music in the early 90s. He has released 3 CDs on the Zero Gravity label but he also manages 2 independent labels; "1040" and "1050". He has released another 4 albums on his own labels. His live concerts consists of drone oriented improvisations on bass guitar.
