The war rages on and audiences want to push it from their minds. Nothing special, just something ordinary and entertaining is enough for the days of war. But there’s more: young Erich Korngold, at the age of 19, manages to see two operas premiere and to perform before Emporer Franz Josef in Munich. And three years after its completion, Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos premieres.
