Scandinavian and Baltic music.
Every fortnight on Northern Lights: one hour devoted exclusively to Scandinavian and Baltic music. There are no limits to our search for music old and new, famous and unknown. And we like to include the whole spectrum of classical music and crossovers, too. Today, a Swedish-Finnish combination: a concerto for cello and orchestra by established Finnish composer Esa-Pekka Salonen and two short symphonic works by the young Swede Alfred Schnelzer.
On this broadcast you will hear:
- Esa-Pekka Salonen [featured image]: Concerto for cello and orchestra (2021)
Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra led by Dima Slobodeniouk
- Albert Schnelzer.
A Freak in Burbank (2007)
Burn my Letters – Remembering Clara (2019)
Västeras Sinfonietta led by Simon Crawford-Philips
