With great sadness we have to report that jazz trombonist and band leader Bart Lust suddenly passed away on New Year’s Eve after a short sick bed. He was 50 years old. We will broadcast a repeat of the broadcast with Bart on 14 September 2015.
Bart Lust (Zaandam, 16 October 1967) studied at the Hilversums Conservatorium Jazz trombone with trombonist Bart van Lier. Subsequently he took private lessons for half a year in New York with Slide Hampton, Jimmy Knepper and Conrad Herwig a.o.
He played with the Swinging Soul Machine, Jan Akkerman, Metropole Orchestra, Orkater, Captain Hook, Caro Emerald, Fra Fra Big Band, Rumbatá and Ruben Hein a.o. He was a permanent member of the New Cool Collective Big Band, the Konrad Koselleck Big Band, the Bart Lust Quintet and the Holland Big Band. Bart taught both at the Kopercollectief as privately and composed for the CDs of his Bart Lust Quintet: Don’t Touch the Bell, Circuits, Make Me An Offer and Slide to Unloc.
