Part XXXIII
Hummel’s very succesful and lucrative concert tour to London called for a continuation. He went back in 1831 when all of Europe was weighed down by social unrest often resulting in revolution. England also could not escape this and when Hummel arrived in London, Parliament had just been dissolved and new elections were called. Everyone’s attention was fixed at this and a foreign piano virtuoso suddenly wasn’t that important anymore. Hummel played some concerts which were not very well attended at all.
