Portraits of composers: Jan Vaclav Vorišek.

Jan Vaclav Vorišek (1791-1825) from Bohemia, lived the largest part of his life in Vienna, where he was on very good terms with Beethoven, Hummel and Schubert, who thought highly of his compositions.
He played the piano, organ and violin very well and was the best in improvising. So he got the most desired position of organ player at the imperial court. In his short life he engaged in all sorts of genres: piano music, songs, chamber music, symphonic repertoire and religious music.
He was of great influence to Schubert, if only because he was the first to write impromptu. Mendelssohn and Schumann clearly also listened to his music. A two hour lasting portrait and a serious attempt to save him from oblivion.
