Composers: Cor Fuhler | Toshimaru Nakamura
#347. Independent sound art, radiophonic projects and other audio non-visual misunderstandings and findings. ‘Found on an old HD’; Cor Fuhler and ToshiMaru Nakamura.
In 2007 we invited ToshiMaru Nakamura to spend some time in the Worm Studio in Rotterdam. Toshi invited Cor Fuhler to play with him on this occasion. To be honest; we totally forgot about it and we never noticed that something came out of it (a record or cd for instance) until we checked our old HD last week, just a few days after we heard about Cor’ s death.
The recordings we play here are, as far as we know or remember, never released. Playing it on our show is to remember Cor Fuhler who was a great musician and who died much too young. We didn’t see much of him since 2011 as he lived in Australia, but there he put our an impressive body of theoretical work about making sound, music, using modular synths, etc. (and he probably played a lot of good gigs as well) We hope and believe his work will be remembered and played and this show is a very small part of it.
As for the music Toshi and Cor made in those 2007 days; we think it aged very well and it’s a pity nobody ever heard it before (as far as we know).
