In Memoriam Adriana Breukink – Dream Recorders, Big Babes and Eagles.
Dutch recorder maker and player Adriana Breukink passed away on October 6th, 2022. Soloists and ensembles play her instruments worldwide. Her innovations – Dream recorders and Eagle recorders – found their way to countless amateur recorder players, top players, and professionals at home and abroad.
In this episode, we feature her instruments, played by the Bassano Quartet, which she founded, and The Royal Wind Music. For this recorder consort, Adriana has created a 3-metre subcontrabass recorder, also called ‘Big Babe’ (see featured photo), in addition to consort flutes. We also hear Adriana playing.
