An educational programme featuring early music.
On 27 August 1521, the composer Josquin des Prez died in Condé-sur-l’Escaut in Hainaut. That is almost 500 years ago to the day. Since February, we have commemorated Josquin with a seven-part series on his life and works. Today is the seventh and final part.
In this final part, we hear a number of secular chansons by Josquin, as well as two lamentations composed by others after his death.
