In Memoriam Bart Lust (1967-2017)
Bart Lust, versatile trombonist and band leader, suddenly passed away after a short sick bed on New Year’s Eve. He was 50 years old.
Bart Lust (Zaandam, 16 October 1967) studied at the Hilversums Conservatorium Jazz trombone with trombonist Bart van Lier. Subsequently he took private lessons for half a year in New York with Slide Hampton, Jimmy Knepper and Conrad Herwig a.o. He played with the Swinging Soul Machine, Jan Akkerman, Metropole Orchestra, Orkater, Captain Hook, Caro Emerald, Fra Fra Big Band, Rumbatá and Ruben Hein a.o. For the Concertzender he made the programme Latin Jazz.
He was permanent member of the New Cool Collective Big Band, the Konrad Koselleck Big Band, the Bart Lust Quintet and the Holland Big Band. Bart taught both at the Kopercollectief as privately and has composed for the CDs of his Bart Lust Quintet; Don’t Touch the Bell, Circuits, Make Me An Offer and “Slide to Unlock”, which appeared in July 2015.
The Museums
The Groninger Museum presents Romanticism in the North – from Friedrich to Turner, the first international overview of landscape painting from Romanticism in northern Europe. Dramatic landscapes with rough seas, formidable mountains and volcanic eruptions alternate each other with silent moon nights and serene fields where the lonely passer-by relaxes. Be surprised by the more than 95 beautiful works from the Netherlands, Germany Scandinavia and Great-Britain. The exhibition can be visited until 6 May 2018
