Fakrutu was originally a trio of seasoned musicians, namely guitarist Mark Tuinstra, drummer Stefan Kruger, and bassist Sean Fasciani. In Fakrutu Dakar Edition, the trio plays together with three Senegalese greats, namely percussionist Oke Sene, kora player Bao Sissoko, and singer Mola Sylla.
