Delightful chamber music by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. The Van Swieten Society, as usual in ever-changing line-ups, conjures up the finest 18th-century notes. Quartets and trios by the big names, but also by Ignaz Pleyel.
Above all, you will hear four young string players from the academy of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, who also have a Haydn quartet on the lectern. Then, in the second hour, you will be drawn into the thoroughly romantic images of Schumann’s Liederkreis, op.39. He transforms Eichendorff’s texts into a beautiful palette of landscapes and emotions. Nicolas van Poucke accompanies soprano Kirila Kraal.
