De la Rue, Josquin, Brumel: Déplorations
Elegies, mourning songs, Requiems: in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, where death stood so close to life, music round guilt and sorrow was very common. Tasto Solo collected the most beautiful pieces with a tear from the era of French-Flemish great masters like Josquin Desprez and Alexander Agricola.

Ordo Virtutum

B) Ordo Virtutum conducted by Stefan Morent
Cistercians: a Liturgy for St. Bernard
During the Festival Oude Muziek the German ensemble Ordo Virtutum performed twice and focussed on two opposite traditions of the Burgundian monastic life.
In their second performance, leader Stefan Morent shows the other side of Burgundian monasticism with songs from the 12th century Citeaux. The unadorned lines of the Cistercian Gregorian sound in a liturgy for St. Bernard of Clairvaux.
