Concert by Issa Bagayogo recorded at Rasa in Utrecht on 20 November 2010.
Issa Bagayogo has a very personal way of making music, based on traditional kora melodies that he combines with elements of rock, funk, dub and electronics, also known as Electro-Afrique. It is similar to Afro-beat, but more melodic.
Now, twenty years and four CDs later, he is starting to gain fame in his home country and in Europe. Especially his last CD, Mali Koura, is an shiny jewel. The album was produced by Yves Wernert and Philippe Berthier.
Tonight, Issa shall perform five tracks from this album.
Strength: Issa Bagayogo vocals and harp lute. Geal le Billian, keyboard. Jerome Hullin, kalabas, thumb piano and percussion, and Yves Wernert, bass guitar.
Seeing as we have some time left over, we play a number of tracks from the Mali Koura CD that were not played during the concert.
