Dutch jazz: Louis van Dijk
Arnold Ludwig (Louis) van Dijk was one of the Netherlands’ best-known pianists with a more than 50-year jazz and classical music career. He produced many records with the trio Louis van Dijk, Jacques Schols and John Engels and in collaboration with Rogier van Otterloo, Toots Thielemans, Pim Jacobs, Rita Reijs and the Rosenberg Trio, among others. He received four Edisons, and his recordings were awarded nineteen gold and three platinum records. In 2018, he closed his career for good at the Loosdrecht Jazz Festival. He died two years later at the age of 78.
