Episode 1278. We continue our exploration of the cantatas in chronological order. We’ve now reached the cantatas Bach composed in October and November of 1724. On Thursday, Ascension Day, we will play Bach’s Ascension Oratorio. In today’s episode: chorale cantata “Wohl dem, der sich auf seinen Gott” BWV 139, which Bach wrote for the 23rd Sunday after Trinity on 12 November 1724.
