In this episode of Bach & Co, we delve deeper into the zeitgeist and circumstances in which Johann Sebastian Bach composed his early cantatas. In “Geen dag zonder Bach,” we have switched to a different approach to our daily cantata selection. We have opted for the chronological order of the creation of his cantatas, to arrive at the 300th anniversary of Bach’s Chorale Cantatas in 2024. We have now reached the second Leipzig cantata cycle.

In this episode, we feature excerpts from cantatas BWV 182, BWV 12, BWV 172, BWV 21, and BWV 61. The following fragments are included:
