Emilie Mayer – a wrongly forgotten 19th-century North German composer -2
This is the second episode of De Wandeling dedicated to the composer Emilie Mayer (1812-1883). She started composing relatively late, but was extremely productive thereafter. She wrote, among other things, eight symphonies, a lot of chamber music, and songs. What was particularly remarkable was that she managed to convince orchestras to perform her music. So during her life, she was very successful, but after her death, she quickly fell into obscurity. In this program, you will hear a piano sonata and a piano trio by her.
