In our ‘living room’, Karin van den Boogaert and Carolien Cleiren receive all manner of World Music performers. Ton Maas receives violinist and singer/songwriter Anne Bakker. While she usually plays in ensembles, in this broadcast, she will perform alone, combining vocals and the violin.
Anne Bakker is a violinist who can play many different musical genres. She recently toured through Brazil, Europe and Dubai with Blaze Baily, former vocalist of Iron Maiden. She also plays Turkish Oriental music with the Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble. With this group, she released her latest album, Kan Zaman.
With the Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble and the Internationale Danstheater, she toured the Netherlands with the show Silk.
Anne writes her own music, which she performs with her duo, Eire, or on her own, accompanying herself on the viola or guitar.
She was taught the violin at the age of six and she studied Jazz and Improvisation at the conservatoires of Rotterdam and Arnhem.
As a violinist, she played with many musicians, such as Kristoffer Gildenlow, Machinefabriek, Bob Zimmerman, Celine Cairo, Baba Zula and others.
