Episode 12: Liberty Records. In 1965 Blue Note was taken over by record label Liberty Records. The former owners – Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff – remained active as producers for Liberty. In the mid sixties they recorded two artists who caught the eye: piano player Herbie Hancock and tenor saxophone player Wayne Shorter.
