Beethoven’s string quartets are acknowledged masterpieces but his string trios are much less well-known. These are all early works and can be heard during An Early Evening Stroll on Tuesday 5 May at 19:00 CET.
Beethoven’s self-confidence had increased considerably since his arrival in Vienna. His string trios op. 9 are the work of a very confident composer. You could also see this in his appearance. A self-assured gentleman!
The trio’s were virtuoso pieces and were therefore not suitable for sale to amateur musicians, The last work in the series is in C-minor and is forceful and dramatic. A forerunner of the music that was to follow.
