A new programme that puts the spotlight on the piano starts on Sunday, January 7 at 14:00 CET. On the first and third Sunday in the month we will introduce you to master pianists and their approach to music.
The programme focuses on the best recordings that have been made by modern pianists. The music ranges from classical to contemporary. We will tell you more about the pianist’s relationship with the works that are performed, their approach to the music and the choices that they make during the performance. In this first episode you will hear the pianists Gilels (photo), Richter & Michelangeli.
The piano is one of the most popular musical instruments. Every pianist has his or her own characteristics that emerge during their playing. In addition, the piano also has limitations, how does the musician deal with them? Programme maker Jeroen Hommels has spoken to many pianists in his role as a grand piano salesman. For Jeroen, the pianist’s relationship with the instrument is the starting point for the musical choices that are made.
