Joji Hirota is perhaps Japan’s foremost multi-percussionist.
This new solo album is a culmination [*] of his inspiration from the great themes of nature, the cosmos and humanity itself.
The music is performed in a circular arrangement of instruments, a series of different taiko drums, several prayer bells, a series of gongs and clusters of bells and chimes. Refining his arrangement over the years, Joji Hirota has created a unique and intuitive playing style, often adding primordial vocals. He plays forty different Japanese and Asian instruments on his own.
