Concertzender Live

Live concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender

The first hour of this Concertzender Live Classical is filled with music from France. Erik Satie and De Groupe des Six are represented with piano music and pieces for spacious living rooms. Violin and piano still have a certain intimacy with Milhaud or his lesser-known colleague Georges Auric, but Poulenc goes all out in his compositions for winds and piano. We also hear the lyrically romantic Poulenc in the slow movement in the trio for oboe, bassoon and piano. The music sometimes rushes by in the sextet for wind instruments and piano, and the volume button is not forgotten. Canadian virtuoso Marc-André Hamelin will open the second hour of the programme. You will probably be hearing Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s cypresses for the first time. The same goes for the Trio by Roel van Oosten. Finally, the Belgian St. George Quintet will play Janáček’s gentle Lyrical Suite.
