Mikhail Glinka II

Today, the second of three episodes about ‘the father of Russian music’, Mikhail Glinka. Glinka lived from 1804 to 1857, and he was the first composer to write operas on Russian themes. With this, he had a large influence on colleagues such as Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. In this hour, you hear orchestral works and songs of Glinka.
