Robby Harman, alias Robert Harman Sordam. ‘Amsterdammer’, child of a father born in Mungo (Suriname) and a mother born in Amsterdam.
He is influenced by a variety of cultural and musical styles. For years he has presented his musical expertise in projects, and supports various projects by composers.
His song ‘Libi Tori’ is seven in number seven in Suriname. Theater trips with cabaretiere Jetty Mathurin and concerts with the Metropole Orchestra followed. He also introduces a new musical concept: Dutch Caribbean Crossover.
Together with Iwan VanHetten in London, he produces his Harmanized album, released in combination with a book, in November 2016.
He has a special approach in his interpretations of existing African-Caribbean music traditions. His crossovers, style and rhythm can be described as a mix of Afro-Jazz with Soul, RnB and Blues.
