Today our guest in the studio is saxophonist Tineke Postma, who will bring along her favorite music. She will receive the Boy Edgar prize on december 9. This programme was broadcasted before on december 9, 2013.

Tineke Postma (Heerenveen 1978) is a very active and widely acclaimed saxophonist. In 2003 she graduated with honors from the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Ferdinand Povel and Jasper Blom, and she teached there as well between 2005 and 2010. In november 2011 Tineke became professor at the Institut f�r Musik – Hochschule�Osnabr�ck.
Since 2006, the Tineke Postma Quartet (Marc van Roon, Frans van der Hoeven and Martijn Vink) has played on many international stages and festivals in the Netherlands, Europe and Japan. They play a mixture of modern jazz and melodic lyricism, funky rhythms, and dynamic improvisations: their own compositions in their own arrangements.
Founded in 2009, the Tineke Postma International Quartet (Geri Allen, Scott Colley en Terri Lyne Carrington) has played, among others, in the Barbican Hall in London, on the North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam) and in the Blue Note jazz club in New York.
Tineke has published five CDs and a DVD. Her CD “For the Rhythm featuring Terri Lyne Carrington ” (2005) was in the top 20 van de Jazz Week Chart for three weeks and was played by more than 250 radio stations. In 2011 she received an Edison for her album The Dawn of Light.
She played together with musicians like Wayne Shorter, Dianne Reeves, Esperanza Spalding, the Dutchmen Han Bennink and pianists Jasper van ‘t Hof and Rob van Bavel. The Downbeat Poll for Rising Stars 2012 put Tineke on number 5 as soprano saxophonist (Rising Star) and number 10 on alto saxophone.
