The Piano Etude: From Practice to Art. Part XXII:
The Italian Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968).
Before the Second World War Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco was very successful as a composer and pianist in Europe. But the fascist regime of Mussolini banned the music of Jewish compatriots in 1938. That is why he emigrated to America and did well in Hollywood as composer of soundtracks. His pleasant piano music somewhat resembles Debussy, Ravel and Granados.
