An Early Evening Stroll

mon 7 jun 2021 11:00 hour

In “A walk with Wölfl” VI, we again encounter the problem that so little music by Wölfl (1775-1812) has been recorded. The Wölflhaus in Bonn is trying to change that. They are using a computer programme that reads scores and transforms them into music. The results are of varying quality and sometimes very unpleasant to the ear. Fortunately, some human musicians record his music as well. Wölfl’s heyday was in Paris, and he composed a great deal there. You will hear a beautiful piano sonata, the overture to a very successful opera and a surprising symphony.

1.Joseph Wölfl: Piano Sonata in F major, Op. 27 No. 2

Adalberto Maria Riva, piano

2.Joseph Wölfl: Overture ‘L’Amour romanesque’

3.Joseph Wölfl: Symphony in G minor Op. 40
