In Concertzender Live on Friday 22nd November two concert recordings of Early Music: harpischordist Mario Sarrechia during the Grachtenfestival 2019 and ‘Gevaarlijke Vrouwen’ by soprano Siri Thornhill and the Apollo Ensemble.
Mother-child virginal
During the Grachtenfestival 2019 harpischordist Mario Sarrechia played a solo recital on a mother-child virginal. He played music from the Susanne van Soldt-manuscript, the oldest known keyboard music from the Netherlands, as well as keyboard music from the time of Susanne van Soldt, end 16th century.
Femme fatale
The second concert is called ‘Gevaarlijke Vrouwen’, given by soprano Siri Thornhill and the Apollo Ensemble, which took place on 30th May 2019 in Het Anker in Lelystad.
In the 19th century the term “Femme fatale” was already well-known, but even before then these femmes fatales were already present in Baroque Opera, especially Georg Friedrich Händel’s. Singer Siri Karoline Thornhill and the Apollo Ensemble play some lovely examples, mixed with concerti grosso van Händel.
